Memoir Author
Mia McDaniel

Author:
Mia McDaniel was born in Manhattan, New York, and spent her childhood living in Long Island, New Jersey, and ultimately Florida. She received a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from University of Florida. Throughout her thirty-five-year career in public relations, Mia has worked on behalf of major regional, national, and international clients. Mia lives in Northern California with her amazing husband, three cats, and a miniature Goldendoodle. She has two wonderful and cherished children from a previous marriage and an adopted adult daughter with Richard.

A piercing memoir of the real-life consequences born of living in a toxic household with a horrible secret…
Life is beautiful for young Mia McDaniel, living with her two loving parents and her younger brother in their Long Island home. All of this is thrown into chaos, however, when she learns just before her fifth birthday that her older cousin, Anna, will be leaving Israel following the tragic death of her father and coming to live with Mia’s family. Little did either girl know that what would happen next in that idyllic suburban home would irrevocably mark all of those involved.
It has been said that everyone has a story, but not every story is as compelling as Mia McDaniel’s. Mia has overcome and worked through an unbelievable and challenging childhood. Reading about her experiences was heart-wrenching and sad, yet hopeful. I had no idea what to expect as I began reading the book, but from the very moment I picked it up, I could not put it down.

In her courageous memoir, Mia McDaniel exposes a shocking family saga of entanglement and abandonment, betrayal, and brainwashing. Her decades-long quest to confront the pain and chaos of her childhood touched me deeply as a mother and will connect many others who have suffered family trauma. Ultimately, McDaniel’s story teaches us the true meaning of love and family.
